New media and technological developments have contributed to offices becoming more and more decentralized with working processes becoming more and more flexible.
We switch between zones; concentrated work, alternating between relaxation and interaction, working and living areas have become intertwined. Alava adapts perfectly to the variety of zones within the new working worlds – inbetween areas and conference zones, cafeterias, waiting areas and even living rooms.
The extremely slim seat shell holds an integrated cushion with a hidden thickness of 7 cm to lend this chair its very elegant and modern expression of form, while enabling a surprisingly high seating comfort together with its integrated tilt mechanism. Using studies on user behaviour conducted in offices and schools, the add-ons complete the portfolio of this chair – a rotatable tray with a cup holder, and stowage for bags. The chair comes in different rack varieties.
Alava was nominated for the German Design Award 2016 by Rat Für Formgebung. It was also awarded the Green Good Design Award 2015 by Chicago Athenaeum because of its production that is based on a high level of responsibility for the environment and the future.
